Starry Night™ Sleep Technology
Innovating quickly and delivering show-stopper results is what we do time after time for our clients. POCO Labs partnered with Leggett & Platt’s key senior executives, design engineering team and promotional agency to unveil its Starry Night™ Sleep Technology in a non-traditional environment and market arena for their business. As America’s foremost authority on bedding components, Leggett & Platt decided it was time that the beds in consumers’ lives reflect ‘how they live in them’. So the Fortune 500 bedding giant went straight to the source – sleepers – and asked them how they use their beds. Enter Starry Night™ Sleep Technology, the first bed to incorporate diagnostic and entertainment technologies to create an intelligent, intuitive and comfortable sleep environment. Starry Night™ is the equivalent of having a home theater and a sleep clinic in the bedroom with diagnostic tools to measure body movements and surround sound to pump up the volume.
In less than two months, POCO Labs worked with Leggett & Platt to form and execute a strategy to debut their Starry Night™ Sleep Technology at the NextGen "Digital Lifestyles” home, presented by Life|ware™, at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The Next Gen home featured innovations from industry-leading organizations to provide homeowners with seamless control over everything from lighting and security to climate and digital entertainment.
For Leggett & Platt, POCO Labs developed an extensive, functional and consumer focused graphical user interface for the Life|ware™ system to demonstrate the Starry Night™ Sleep Technology. This new sleep technology features the first bed to encompass dual temperature controls, body movement and breathing pattern monitoring and anti-snore technology—delivering the ultimate sleeping environment. POCO Labs developed a prototype consumer interface and touch screen control to accompany and control the bed for use at the show and other future venues. POCO Labs worked in conjunction with Leggett & Platt’s promotional agency and Walt Disney creative, to produce actor presentations and brand positioning scripts for the Starry Night™ demonstration during public, dignitary and media tours of the Next Gen Home. An objective appraisal of the combination of physical and virtual property concepts developed by POCO Labs were also tested onsite at CES. This research enabled a better understanding of consumers’ initial opinions and attitudes of the Starry Night™ Sleep Technology in advance of additional research and detailed development work.
POCO Labs’ innovative and lightning fast approach enabled Leggett & Platt to earn global positive media attention, analyst accolades and real time market insights, in and outside of their industry in record time. With more than 56 million documented media impressions within a month, the Starry Night™ Sleep Technology System was certainly understood as a true breakthrough in the marketplace and helps position the Fortune 500 company as ‘one to pay close attention to’ that plays in a space that’s ripe for innovation.
